2017 SO CAL FAIR
DEMOLITION DERBY RULES
 
  This Demolition Derby is during the So Cal Fair and will take place on October 1, 2017. This is a "CHAIN AND GO STOCK CLASS"! This is an "AMATEUR" Demolition Derby. NO PROFESSIONAL DERBY COMPETITOR'S ALLOWED. IF YOU HAVE RUN IN ANY DERBY THAT PAID A PURSE, WHETHER YOU WERE PAID OR NOT, YOU ARE CONSIDERED A PROFESSIONAL. This is a "TROPHY ONLY" Demo Derby. There will be prize money for the TOP THREE "BEST APPEARING" CARS. NO PRIZE MONEY WILL BE AWAREDED TO THE WINNERS OF THE DERBY!

This Demolition Derby is open to any 1980 and newer full and mid-size size vehicles, including station wagons. You may run a car which has been run in other derbies, but it must meet our rules and be safe. All rules are subject to the interpretation of Perris Auto Speedway, their officials, any equipment that the officials consider not in the intent of the rules will be considered illegal for competition. In the interest of fairness the rules may be adjusted to create a balance in competition.

COMPETITION RULES

1. 108" Wheel base or smaller vehicle only. (108" is measured from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel.
2. No 4 - wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles. No pickups or Sports Utility Vehicle.
3. NO WELDING AT ALL! (Exception of driver's door which can be welded solid and the cage.
4. Chains only - All chain must be at least 1/4" minimum - 1/2" maximum. 2 - chains per door and 4 chains on the hood. No chain to exceed 3 feet anywhere on vehicle. Chains cannot be welded. Chains must be bolted only.
5. Brace behind driver's seat is mandatory from side to side. Driver's door to passenger door brace may be a maximum of 8" in diameter. Driver's door can have bar or "C" channel welded or bolted to the outside for safety only. It can only extend more than 3" past the door and be any bigger than 6".
6. Vehicles which have run in other derbies may not run if Officials rule the car is to bent up and or is unsafe.
7. All glass, side chrome and flammable material must be removed. Glass cannot be rolled down, it must be removed, Rear seats must be removed, This must be done prior to coming to the event.
8. A spark arrestor or air cleaner must be on the carburetor or injector. No oil type. It is mandatory to have at least a 10" hole cut in the top of the hood next to carburetor.
9. Vertical bar is mandatory in windshield opening, in front of the driver. Two bars only. Welded, bolted or anchored by screws from cowl to roof.
10. No adding weight to the vehicle at all, such as packing the trunk, doors or frame.
11. If your car is rolled on its side or roof during the event and is pushed back over by another car, you may continue the derby, however no person shall enter the arena to push your car over. An Official may disqualify you from the derby if your car is not safe to continue for any reason.
12. There will be no building of vehicles in the pit area.
13. All vehicles must have the ability to stop before entering the derby arena.
14. No chains or U-bolts allowed around body to frame on any vehicle.
15. No rigid suspension. Must be stock to the car.
16. No trailer hitches. No objects protruding outside of vehicle.
17. Gas tanks can remain stock if in front or over the rear wheels. If the tank is under the trunk, then you must use a steel tank in the back-seat area. The tank must be securely attached. No ratchet straps.
18. Battery must be moved to the inside of the vehicle and covered with a non-conductive material like a rubber inner tube. Battery must be securely bolted to the front passenger floorboard of the vehicle, away from the door.
19. Body to frame hardware and bushings must be Stock OEM.
20. Radiator must be stock automotive and in the original stock position. No additional supports or mounts. No water inside of vehicle. No anti-freeze,
21. Firewall must be stock with no large holes. All holes must be covered up. No welding on firewall.
22. All Station Wagon spare tire compartment lid and all seats except front seat must be removed.
23. Car Numbers must be at least 18" on both sides and tip of vehicle. All colors must be contrasting colors.
24. Bumpers must be stock to the car.
26. Tires must be stock to the car. No snow tires or tractor tires.

GENERAL RULES

1.Car Pre-Entry $10.00. Day of the event entry $25. Entry Fee does not include the Driver’s Pit Pass. All Pit Pass are $25.00 each and must be bought at the track pit booth. There is no age limit in the pits. All Minor's must have their Parent execute a "Minors Release" prior to entering the pits.
2. All participants must be 18 years or older and have a valid drivers license. Be prepared to show license when signing in.
3. All drivers must wear dot approved full/open face helmets at all times while in the vehicle. (No brain buckets, skull caps, ect.ect.)
4. Shoes, Shirts, and pants are required. Fireproof clothing is highly recommended.

SAFETY AND DERBY RULES

1. A DOT/Snell approved crash HELMET IS REQUIRED with working chin strap; loss of helmet during derby will result in car and driver being disqualified for that heat. All pit personnel must be attired for working around vehicles. NO OPEN TOED SHOES OR SANDALS ALLOWED.
2. Drivers MUST wear long pants, shoes or boots, Long sleeve shirt and gloves while on the track. Approved fire suit & neck collar recommended.
3. Drivers MUST wear eye protection while on the track, full face shield, goggles or approved Safety Glasses.
4. The basic idea of a Demolition Derby is for cars to ram/smash into and eliminate each other. AVOID DRIVERS DOOR AT ALL COST, if you hit a driver’s door you will be DISQUALIFIED. It is acknowledged that the activities of this event are very dangerous..
5. A driver MUST make substantial contact with another car every TWO (2) minutes. Keeping away from the action, taking too long to start the car or being locked up with another car too long will result in elimination from the Derby. If a car catches fire it may not restart the Derby if deemed to be unsafe by the officials.
6. DO NOT drive out of the designated derby area. DO NOT push someone else out of the derby area.
7. An Orange flag (min. 12in x 10in.) MUST be securely fastened to the car within reach of the driver. Flag MUST extend 6in. above roof. When eliminated from derby, tear flag off to signal to other drivers you are out of competition. If the flag falls off, you are eliminated. DO NOT hit a car that is already eliminated; if you do you will be disqualified. Once you take your flag down, you CANNOT put it back up.
8. Stay in your car at all times during the running of the derby. You MUST remain buckled in your car with your helmet on, even after your car has been eliminated. If you have an emergency and must get out of your car waive your flag at the officials so that they may stop the Derby. It is extremely dangerous to get out of your car while the derby is still running.
9. In the case of an emergency, an air horn will be sounded along with the red flag. Stop your vehicle and allow the Officials and Safety Crew on to the track. You MUST stay in your vehicle unless an Official allows you to exit your vehicle if you are already eliminated.
10. NO ONE but the driver and officials are allowed on the competition arena at any time.
11. ALL DRIVERS MUST attend the drivers meeting which is approximately 1 hour before each event. If you do not attend the drivers meeting you will be disqualified.
12. The Last Car running will be the “Winner”.
13. All cars used in the derby must be removed that night. (b) Failure to remove your car will result with any or all of the following: charged a disposal fee, loss of any money or winnings, loss of points for the event, suspension from future events.
