THREE SPRINT CAR CLASSES AND TWO STOCK CAR CLASSES SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, June 18, 2024) This Saturday night, June 22nd, Perris Auto Speedway will host the fastest traditional sprint car series west of the Mississippi. The cars will be the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars but they will not be the only group of cars supplying the intense action. In addition to the 410 sprinters, the GAS Chassis Young Gun Sprints, PAS Senior Sprints, and the PASSCAR Street and American Factory Stocks will also be on hand to thrill the crowd. For the first time this season, coming into Saturday’s Street Stock portion of the program, there is no tie for first in the championship point standings. Over the first two races, James Altman Jr of Lake Elsinore, and Ohio native Evan Sennett, who now lives in Riverside, were tied for the top of the heap in the standings. That great battle hit a bit of a rough patch at the last event on May 25th when a rod in Sennett’s engine decided to escape from the block during the heat race. Sennett’s misfortune, combined with another top-notch performance by Altman, broke the tie and gave Altman some breathing room in the championship standings. Altman, who has a win, a second place and a third in the first three races of the year, now leads the title chase by a single point!!! Taking up the chase and breathing directly down his neck is Rancho Palos Verdes racer George Leventis, whose father, Chris is the two-time defending class champion. Lake Mathews teen Cameron Pierce, another second-generation racer, is third and is only nine points out of first. Morgan Rowlan of Riverside and 2021 champion “Elkman” Brandon Kelly are fourth and fifth. Personable Sennett and the senior Leventis are sixth and seventh. In the American Factory Stocks, Menifee's David Uraine leads a tight battle that sees the top five only separated by 11 points. James Keller of Jurupa Valley is second, five points behind Uraine. Nuevo's Ethan Kintop is one point behind Keller. David Stites of Canyon Lake and Albert Jurtado of Riverside are fourth and fifth and only trail the leader by 10 and 11-points respectively. In the GAS Chassis Young Gun Sprint Car class, Westminster’s Brecken Guererro has a firm grip on the championship and the brand-new GAS Chassis that will go with it. The first-year driver holds a 58-point lead over fellow newcomer Jake McKee of Redlands. Riverside’s Cody Deloye and Seth Dyer of Yucca Valley are third and fourth. Like Guererro, Tustin’s Bob Suchy has a big lead over Yorba Linda’s Greg Badgwell in the Senior Sprints. IE-based drivers Mike Kotlinski of Nuevo and Murrieta’s Tyler Hatzikian are third and fourth. Adult tickets are $30.00. For seniors 65 and over it is $25.00. Kids 6 to 12 get in for only $5.00 and children five and under are admitted free. The fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking. For fans who do not wish to purchase tickets in advance, there will be plenty available for everyone at the ticket window on Saturday.
