PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY HOSTS “The CRAZIEST SHOW ON DIRT,” LKQ PICK YOUR PART NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION, THIS SATURDAY By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, September 11, 2023) Summer vacation has ended and Perris Auto Speedway will roar back to life this Saturday, September 16th, when LKQ Pick Your Part presents the “Craziest Show On Dirt,” Night of Destruction. The edge-of-your-seat three-hour show will feature clean family fun and wild, wreck-filled races. The program will include daring Figure 8 races, rough and tumble Demo Cross, the Mighty Mini Stocks on the challenging road course, Mini Stock Figure 8s, the zany Double Deckers, and the return of the wacky Figure 8 Trailer races. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first crash will take place at 7:00. Fans are urged to arrive early and bring all of the kids in the neighborhood for the free on-track candy giveaway and autograph session with all of the drivers and cars between 5:15 and 5:45. The tightest race of all is in the Mini Stock Road Racing Class. In that one, Riverside’s Kris Martin, driver of the popular “Hot Wheels Car,” holds an eight-point advantage over Hemet’s Cory Denny. Austin Kinnane of Riverside is third but is 56 points behind the leader. Martin also leads the points in the first-year Mini Stock Figure 8 standings. There he holds a comfortable 27-point lead over Bryce Wade Pack. Kinnane is third in that class as well but is only three points out of second. Classy Earl Cox of Norco is seeking his third PAS Figure 8 title and has a comfortable 27-point lead over defending class champion Roger Storey of Riverside going into Saturday’s race. The “Love Doctor,” Anthony Guisa of Norwalk, is currently third in the daring class that sees fearless drivers cross within inches of each other, and sometimes crash, as they pass through the intersection at high rates of speed. San Jacinto’s Trebor Stephens has the biggest point lead of any driver going into Saturday’s big race. The attentive driver competes in the rough-and-tumble Demo Cross class where there are virtually no rules. Stephens seems to have an uncanny ability to avoid the chaos around him. He has parlayed that skill into a 33-point lead over second-year driver Canyon Multhaupt of Anaheim entering Saturday’s episode. Popular Jim Schoening of San Diego is third and trails Multhaupt by 27 points. In the fan-favorite Double Deckers, the team of Lonnie Skillman and Don McCall lead the pair of Augustine Culverhouse/Josh Ponce by 24 markers. New guys on the block Ashton Went/Josh Sawvelle, who drive the “Hot Diggity Dodge” entry, are third. Bryce Wade-Pack continues to lead the Iron Man standings (all classes combined) over Martin and Multhaupt as the 2023 season hits the homestretch. Saturday will see the return of the Figure 8 Trailer races for the first time in 2023. The wacky contests, which feature competitors pulling trailers behind them, will have two more appearances this year. It is hoped that they produce a decent amount of entries so they can be a regular part of the show in 2024. Adult tickets for Saturday night’s fun show are $20.00. For kids 6 through 12, it is only $5.00, and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking.
