PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY CLOSES THE 2022 SEASON THIS SATURDAY WITH NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION

By Scott Daloisio

(Perris, CA, November 7, 2022)
Perris Auto Speedway will bring the curtain down on the 2022 racing season this Saturday night, November 12th, with the “Craziest Show On Dirt," Night of Destruction presented by LKQ Pick Your Part. It will be the last time fans can see Night of Destruction and any type of racing at the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval until the track opens its 27th season in March of 2023. In addition to the usual events, spectators will be treated to a sneak preview of an exciting addition to the 2023 Night of Destruction lineup.

Fans are urged to get to the track early this Saturday, as from 5:15 to 5:45 all the cars and drivers will meet with the fans on the racetrack for the free kid’s candy giveaway and autograph session. After that is over, crashing will commence with wild Figure 8 Racing, a crazy Figure 8 Trailer Race, the exciting Mini Stocks, rough & tumble Demo Cross, and, of course, the crowd favorite zany Double Deckers.

“This season seems to have flown by,” promoter Don Kazarian said on Tuesday afternoon. “We are going to end the year on Saturday with a bang. It will be another crazy Night of Destruction presented by LKQ Pick Your Part. Over the last few years, Night of Destruction has become the best-attended of our regular monthly shows and it is appropriate that it is the show that sends us into the holiday season. We expect this to be our best and wildest night of 2022, as it will be the last time these guys and gals will be on the track to wreck each other until next year. For the fans, this will be the last time they get to see Night of Destruction until March.”

Going into the night, tight points races exist in the Figure 8s, Figure 8 Trailer, Demo Cross, and the Double Decker classes. Three drivers come into a tight battle for the Figure 8 championship. Riverside’s Roger Storey leads Kevin Cox of Foothill Ranch by 15-points going into the finale. Brian Kedzior of Riverside is third and trails the “crisscross” race point leader by 36-points. The Figure 8 Trailer class features the tightest race of the championships going into the final night of the campaign. Kedzior, and Whittier’s Michael Schattilly are tied for first with 339-points. If that is not tight enough, Rob Multhaupt Jr. of Orange, who used to race at Ascot, is only nine points behind the lead duo. Quail Valley’s Karen Pack is fourth and is 48-points out of the top spot.

Demo Cross, which is a combination of an oval race, obstacle course, and no holds barred demolition derby, sees Schattilly with a small 18-point cushion over Trebor Stephens who resides in San Jacinto. Kedzior and Casey Multhaupt, an elementary school teacher from Menifee, have a mathematical chance going into the race, but each would need catastrophes from both of the top two drivers to secure the title.

Things in the Mini Stocks are quite different as Kameron Perry has a comfortable 45-point advantage over fellow Riverside resident Cale Skillman. Like Kedzior and Casey Multhaupt in Demo Cross, Hemet’s Corey Denny still has hopes of victory but those dreams would require both Perry and Skillman to miss the main event.

In the Overall Iron Man championship, which combines the points of the Figure 8s, Trailers, Demo Cross and Mini Stocks, Kedzior has a 78-point advantage over Schattilly. Rob Multhaupt Jr. is third but will be mathematically eliminated if the two leaders take a green flag in any main event.

The zany Double Deckers feature one car stacked on top of another. The driver on the bottom controls the throttle and brakes and the driver on top steers. The Ghost Busters car has a nine-point lead over Cadzilla going into the last race of the year. The Bug Ya’ Later is third.

Spectator gates for the final night of crashing in 2022 will open at 5:00 PM, and the first wreck will take place at 7:00. Adult tickets are $20.00. For kids 6 to 12 it is just $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charges $10.00 for parking.

Perris Auto Speedway is conveniently located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), one-hour east of Los Angeles and one-hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit on the Ramona Expressway, and go three miles east to the fairgrounds. For directions on online, the address to enter is: 18700 Lake Perris Drive and the zip code is 92571.
