PERRIS FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT
SATURDAY – PRIZES INCLUDE $1,000.00 CASH
TO A FAN AND BIG WINNERS CHECKS TO DRIVERS By Scott Daloisio
(Perris, CA, October 12, 2021)
This Saturday, October 16th, Perris Auto
Speedway will be hosting “Fan Appreciation
Night.” In addition to valuable prizes for
the fans, including $1,000 to one lucky
spectator, the drivers in the three stock
car classes and the modifieds will be
competing for their biggest winner’s
purses of the year. At intermission, fans
can come onto the track to collect
autographs from the drivers who will also
be passing out free candy to all the
children in attendance. Spectator gates
will open at 5:00 p.m. with the first race
at 7:00.
#1 Brandon Kelly is seeking his first ever
PASSCAR Street Stock title. He will have
to fight off #25 Curtis Dietzsch. Kenny

Saturday’s prizes
for the fans will include the $1,000.00
giveaway mentioned above, four kids
bicycles and several Perris Auto Speedway
25th Anniversary shirts. For the bicycles,
there will be separate drawings for boys
and girl’s bikes. Two will be given away
to boys and another couple will go home
with girls.
“We appreciate our
fans and thank them for coming back and
supporting us after we lost last season to
Covid,” promoter Don Kazarian said. “They
come out in the colder weather early and
late in the season and in the scorching
months in between. They have always been
very loyal to us and this weekend we have
some special giveaways to show our
appreciation.”
Due to the
generosity of an anonymous person, the
winner’s purses for the PASSCAR Stock Car
classes and the modifieds have been
greatly enhanced in 2021. All season long
this person has made it possible for the
winner in the super stock and modified
classes to take home $1,500.00 at each
race. The winner of the street stocks has
taken home $1,000.00. The factory stock
class has always been a trophy class at
the track, but due to the same person’s
generosity, the winner of each factory
stock main has pocketed $500.00 (second
and third place finishers in the Factory
Stocks have gotten $300.00 and $200.00
respectively). The great news is the same
person has upped the prize money for this
Saturday night.
“We, and I mean
the track and the drivers, are very
fortunate to have such a special person
who wanted to give back to the sport he
has loved for so long,” Kazarian stated.
“He did so without any fanfare and asked
to remain anonymous. We thank him so much
for being involved. He added great bonuses
throughout the season, and he upped them
for this weekend’s event. On Saturday, the
winners in the modifieds, street stocks
and super stocks will each take home
$2,500.00 and the second-place finishers
in those classes will get $1000.00. In the
Factory Stocks, the winner of the main
event is going to receive $1,000.00 and
second-place will get $500.00.”
Another bonus for fans attending
Saturday’s races besides the prizes,
obtaining autographs & collecting candy
from the drivers at intermission, will be
some extra racing! All main events have
been extended by an extra five-laps.
Instead of being 25-laps like normal, this
week they will race 30 circuits around the
famous Riverside County half-mile clay
oval.
“With all of the extra cash
on the line we decided to add five extra
laps onto each main event,” Kazarian
smiled. “And it is just another extra perk
for the fans who attend. They will be
getting 20-more laps of exciting racing to
watch.”
Saturday’s show will be the
next to last for the stock cars and
modifieds at The PAS in 2021. After this
week they come back one more time for the
annual “Champion’s Night” on November
13th. One championship, the IMCA Modifieds
(the IMCA point season ends in September),
has already been decided, and Buena Park,
California’s Billy Griffin won that crown.
Going into Saturday, Griffin leads the
championship in both the PASSCAR Modifieds
and the PASSCAR Super Stocks with the two
races remaining. While other drivers still
mathematically have chances, realistically
the crowns in both classes come down to
Griffin and one other driver in each
discipline. In the modifieds, he is
12-points ahead of Norco, California’s Tom
Smith. Rivalry between those two reached a
fever pitch after the last race four weeks
ago. In the super stocks, Griffin has a
nine-point advantage over Riverside’s
Tyson Talkington.
A handful of
drivers are mathematically alive in the
street stocks and the factory stocks.
Realistically, it looks like it is down to
Moreno Valley, California’s Brandon Kelly,
and three-time class champ Curtis Dietzsch
of Riverside in the street stocks. Heading
into Saturday, Kelly is just 11-points in
front of Dietzsch. In the Factory Stocks,
Temecula’s Cameron Veatch is seeking his
third straight title and has a 10-point
cushion between himself and second-place
Mike Burks of Nuevo. Jason Cook of Hemet
is hanging on in third and is 20-points
out of the top spot.
Walkup ticket
sales are available for Saturday and there
will be plenty of tickets for everyone.
The race will not sell out. If you wish to
