IMCA MODIFIEDS AND PASSCAR STOCK CARS NEXT AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
By Scott Daloisio

(Perris, CA, September 8, 2019) Racing returns to Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday, September 14th, when the IMCA Modifieds and the PASSCAR Stock Car Series, featuring Street Stocks, Super Stocks and American Factory Stocks, take over the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. At intermission, kids in the grandstands will be let onto the front straightaway of the track to collect free candy from all the drivers. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and the first race will begin at 7:00.

Lake Elsinore’s George Boulden, Bradley Morris of Romoland, Riverside’s Tyson Talkington and Cameron Pierce of Lake Matthews, were the winners at the last race on August 24th and should all be on hand again on Saturday.

Perhaps the most exciting and surprising race last time out came when 14-year-old Pierce, in only his fifth race, outdistanced the field in the Factory Stock main event. Much to the delight of the crowd, Pierce battled with veteran drivers who were much older to prevail for his first win at the track.

“Cameron Pierce put on a great show and definitely earned that win,” promoter Don Kazarian said after the race. “What made it so impressive is the fact that he has only raced a handful of times. He had a few hiccups in the race, but they did not phase him. He would gather himself up and come charging back again. We look forward to watching him race again on Saturday.”

In the IMCA Modifieds, Morris will be looking to win his third straight main event at The PAS. Despite winning the last two in a row, he is only 11-points in front of Apple Valley’s Joey Haresky in the championship standings. Saturday’s race will be the final 2019 IMCA Modified points race at The PAS (however separate PAS Modified points will be accumulated through the last race in November). Morris has two wins, two-second place finishes and has yet to finish out of the top five this year. Haresky has only finished out of the top five one time and in the last three races, he has placed fourth, third and second respectively. He hopes to continue to the next step for the win on Saturday.

Boulden’s win was a popular one with PAS fans and was the first for the 2002 Street Stock champion in several years. He had to hold off hard-charging Tony “El Tigre” Lima of Hemet for the exciting win. Point leader Blaine Whitson, who came into the night with two wins and two-second place finishes in the first four races of the year, got knocked out of the event early and finished last. His point lead was slashed to only nine-points over five-time champion Luke Dodd of Riverside. Third place in the championship standings is crowd favorite Alyssa Smith. The Norco High School Senior only trails Dodd by three-points.

At the last race, Tyson Talkington of Riverside, who took 10-years off from car racing to race Speedway Motorcycles, won his first race since coming back in the Super Stocks. Unfortunately, for Talkington, the driver he is chasing for the title, Fred Estrada of Riverside, finished second. That finish sees Estrada with a 10-point lead over his younger challenger going into Saturday’s race.

Counting Saturday’s show, the Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Super Stocks only have three races remaining in 2019. The Street Stocks have one extra race as they have an added date on October 11th during the upcoming Southern California Fair.
