RACE FANS GET TWO SHOWS FOR ONE TICKET SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY! By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, March 4, 2019) Just like the days gone by in Major League Baseball when doubleheaders were a regular part of the schedule, race fans who attend this Saturday’s PASSCAR Stock Car Series/IMCA Modified show at Perris Auto Speedway, will be treated to a twin bill. Due to the February 9th rainout, Saturday’s program will feature two full shows, each featuring heats and main events for all four classes. Best of all, fans will get both shows for the same price they normally pay for one. Spectator gates for the extra bang for your buck program will open an hour earlier than usual at 4:00 P.M. and the first show will start two hours earlier than normal at 5:00. After the first presentation concludes, the track will be prepped for the second complete show. Both shows will feature heats and main events for the PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and the IMCA Modifieds. The Super Stocks, Street Stocks and Modifieds will compete for two separate purses. “Unfortunately, we were rained out last month for the season opener,” promoter Don Kazarian said. “That is why we are having the doubleheader. It should be a great night for the fans with lots of racing and hopefully a lot of drivers who want to get a lot of points. Basically, it is like a double points night. It can be a huge benefit in the championship chases for all drivers and especially the IMCA drivers who will accumulate national, regional, track and state points. Now all we have to do is get Mother Nature to co-operate.” As well as the fans, the drivers and pit crews will also get a benefit from the doubleheader. While there will be a separate entry fee for each race, one pit pass will be good for both shows. 2018 champions Luke Dodd of Riverside, Chuck Becker of Yucaipa, Mike Lerwell of El Cajon and Cameron Veatch of Temecula are all expected to be on hand for the doubleheader. For Dodd, he will be going for an unprecedented sixth track championship in the Street Stocks. In addition, Dodd will also be a rookie in the Modified class. Becker has won Modified championships the past three years (2016 IMCA, 2017 & 18 PAS). He is looking to equal Alan Updyke’s record of four PAS Modified crowns. If Lerwell can back up last year’s triumph with another title this year, he will be the first driver to win three championships in the Super Stock class. He is currently tied with three other drivers - Chad Burns, Terry Hershberger and Dennis Wooldridge - who also have two championships in the Supers. Veatch can become the first driver in track history to take home two Factory Stock championships if he does the trick again this year. Admission is $5.00 each for active military members with proper id and their spouse or significant other. Teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 get in for just $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00. After Saturday, the season will continue March 30th with the 2019 open wheel opener featuring the So Cal Showdown featuring the NOS Energy Drink World Of Outlaws and the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars.
