FIRST
ENTRIES ARRIVE FOR 23RD ANNUAL BUDWEISER
OVAL NATIONALS!
By Scott
Daloisio
(Perris, CA, September 23, 2018)
The first two entries for the
23rd Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals
presented by All Coast Construction at
Perris Auto Speedway on November 8th, 9th
and 10th have crossed the desk of promoter
Don Kazarian. Those first entries are from
Canton, Illinois native Chris Windom and
USAC/CRA regular Tommy “Thunder” Malcolm
of Corona, California.
Windom, who is
now 27-years-old, was only 19 when he won
the Oval Nationals in 2010 making him the
youngest winner in the history of the
race. His performance that night while
driving for Jeff Walker still stands as
the most dominating victory in the history
of the Oval Nationals. Two years ago,
Windom captured the USAC Silver Crown
championship and last season he won the
USAC National Sprint Car Series title. He
is currently ranked third in the standings
in both of those series as the 2018 season
begins to wind down.
2017 USAC National Sprint Car Champion
Chris Windom is among the first entries
for this year’s Budweiser Oval Nationals.

Malcolm, 26,
began his racing career driving street
stocks at the PAS when he was only 14. The
Norco High graduate eventually followed
the footsteps of his step father Dino
Napier and moved into Dirt Late Model
racing where he became a top competitor on
the West Coast. Three years ago, Napier
purchased a sprint car for Malcolm to race
in the USAC/CRA Series and he has been a
PAS regular ever since. The look alike of
Houston Astro’s pitching star Justin
Verlander is currently ranked 12th in
USAC/CRA points and has a couple of sixth
place finishes in 2018.
