LAST
CHANCE FOR PASSCAR DRIVERS TO QUALIFY FOR
CHAMPIONSHIPS AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
By Scott
Daloisio
(Perris, CA, September 5, 2017)
This Saturday night, September 9th, will
be the most important race thus far in
2017 for the PASSCAR Stock Car Series
drivers at Perris Auto Speedway. Saturday
will be the last chance for drivers to
qualify for the “PASSCAR Pursuit
Championship” on October 24th. Drivers in
the Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Modifieds
and American Factory stocks will all be
vying for the important qualifying spots.
Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and
racing will start at 7:00.
Any driver who
has won a main event and who has attended
the required number of races after
Saturday, automatically qualifies for the
October finale. There will be seven spots
open for each class. However, as there
were repeat winners in each class, the
highest point drivers (with the
appropriate number of appearances) without
wins will also have a chance to get in.
“This Saturday
is a big deal for a lot of drivers,”
promoter Don Kazarian said. “Many drivers
are hoping to get that win to get in, but
they will also be fighting for points in
case they have to get in that way. Once
they get in, it is just like the last
NASCAR race of the year where you are
having a race within a race. Everybody
will be trying to win the October main
event and the highest finishing driver
among the “Super Seven” in each class will
be crowned champion for 2017. The fans
love it.”
Due to the
domination of Riverside’s Luke Dodd, who
has won five of the first six races in the
Street Stocks, five of the spots for the
finale will be decided on Saturday. The
only other qualified Street Stock driver
is Bryce Mulvey of Garden Grove who won
the main event on June 3rd. Likewise, five
spots remain open in the American Factory
Stocks. Only teenagers James Altman Jr. of
Lake Elsinore and Alyssa Smith of Norco
are qualified for finale. Altman has three
wins and has not finished worse than
second this year. Smith, who won the “El
Nino Winter Series Championship” two years
ago, has two Factory Stock wins coming
into the night.
Bryce Mulvey
of Garden Grove, shown on the inside of
#74 Casey MacDonald of Riverside and Chris
Leventis of Rancho Palos Verdes, is the
only driver other than Luke Dodd to win in
the Street Stocks this year. Please give
In the
Modifieds, three drivers, Mike Kirby of
Bullhead City, Arizona, Steven “Bam Bam”
Fangmeyer of Lake Elsinore and Joseph
Altig of Imperial Beach, have already
qualified for the championship. That means
four spots are up for grabs for October’s
“Big Dance.” However, Altig, who won the
main event on April 8th, missed the last
race. If he misses Saturday, he will not
be eligible for the title in October and
five spots to get in would be available
this Saturday.
Four drivers
are already qualified for the Super Stock
finale. Riverside’s Fred Estrada and Tom
Smith of Norco lead the quadrant with two
wins each. Two-time champion Dennis
Wooldridge of Riverside and Buena Park’s
Billy Griffin are the other qualifiers
with one win each. That means three
qualifying spots are open on Saturday.
All drivers
will contest heat races, B main events if
applicable and A main events on Saturday.
Adult tickets
for Saturday’s show are $15.00. Active
military with proper id, teens 13-18 with
their school id and kids 6-12 get in for
just $5.00. Children 5 and under are free.
Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00.
