PASSCAR STOCK CAR SERIES AND IMCA MODIFIEDS OPEN THEIR PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY SCHEDULE ON SATURDAY! By Scott Daloisio (Perris, CA, March 6, 2017) After a successful opening night for sprint cars last Saturday night, Perris Auto Speedway will continue with its openings this Saturday, March 11th, when the PASSCAR Stock Car Series and the IMCA Modifieds take to the track for the first time in 2017. Saturday’s race will be the first of eight PASSCAR/IMCA shows at The PAS in 2017. Spectator gates for the four-in-one show will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00. The PASSCAR portion of the show will feature the Super Stocks, Street Stocks and the American Factory Stocks. Promoter Don Kazarian looks for increased car counts across the board not only in the PASSCAR classes, but in the IMCA Modifieds as well. “2017 looks to be another good year for our stock cars fans,” Kazarian said. “We have seen increased car counts, especially in the Modified and Super Stock classes, over the past couple of years. We think those two classes will continue to grow in 2017. Since we went back to the IMCA sanction a couple of years ago, we have seen more out of town Modifieds come to The PAS to compete. Likewise, the Super Stock class has been growing the past couple of years and there will be at least three new regulars in that class this season. Please give photo credit to Vane Ledgerwood. 2016 class champions Luke Dodd of Riverside in the Street Stocks, El Cajon’s Mike Lerwell in the Super Stocks, PAS Modified champion Mike Kirby of Lomita and IMCA Modified champion Chuck Becker of Yucaipa are all expected to be in action on Saturday and will be among the favorites for the titles in 2017. A new champion will be crowned in the Factory Stocks as Lerwell will not be defending that crown. As has been the case the last few years, drivers in the four PASSCAR classes will again be eligible for the “PAS Pursuit Championship” at the end of the season. Any driver who wins a main event in the first seven races and who is eligible as per the rules, can be crowned champion on the last race in October. If more than one driver wins in a class in the first seven races, the highest eligible points driver (s) without a win moves into the finale as well. The highest finishing of the eligible drivers on the final night will be crowned champion. Saturday’s exciting dirt track show will include heats races, B Mains (if applicable) and A Main events for every class. “We hope to see some new people come out and join our regulars for our stock car shows in 2017,” Kazarian said. “Many people come for the first time and they keep coming back as they love the high level of the competition, fast paced side by side racing and the ever-increasing car counts that make for a great show. We are expecting big things on the stock car end of the business this year.” Ticket for Saturday’s show are $15.00 for adults. For active military members with property id, teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12, it is just $5.00. Children 5 and under will be admitted free. Parking on the fairgrounds is $8.00. After this week’s show, The PAS will host the 2017 season opener for the “LKQ Pick Your Part Presents Night of Destruction” on Saturday, March 18th. On April 1st, the legendary World of Outlaws will join the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars for the Annual “So Cal Showdown.” It will be the Outlaws only appearance in So Cal in 2017.
