JERRY DODD CHAMPION’S NIGHT FOR THE PASSCAR STOCK CARS AT PERRIS THIS SATURDAY
By Scott Daloisio

(Perris, CA, November 6, 2024)
The 2024 PASSCAR Stock Car season will end this Saturday night, November 9th, when Perris Auto Speedway presents the 2nd Annual Jerry Dodd Champions Night. The season closer will feature the Super Stocks, Street Stocks, and American Factory Stocks. In addition, the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, GAS Chassis Young Gun Sprints, and PAS Senior Sprints will also be in action. It will be the final time to see racing at The PAS until 2025.

Two drivers who are friends and who first competed against each other at Ascot in the 1980s, come into Saturday’s Super Stock race separated by one point going into the finale. Yucaipa’s Chuck Becker has a one-point lead over Buena Park’s Billy Griffin. The pair are two of the most highly decorated drivers in the 28th season of the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. Griffin has won three track championships at the track. His first was a modified title in 2013. Eight years later, in 2021, he won both modified titles and the super stock crown. Becker has three titles. He was modified champion in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Becker comes into the night with 130 points to Griffin’s 129. Tom Wesolowski of Canyon Lake, Banning’s Rickie Lee, and Temecula’s Blaine Whitson are third, fourth, and fifth.

In the Street Stock class, two drivers whose fathers also raced at Ascot, James Altman Jr. of Lake Elsinore and Rancho Palos Verdes racer George Leventis, sit on top of the standings. Altman has an eight-point lead heading into the finale. All he has to do to sew up his first-ever PAS title is finish eighth in the main. Jason Andrews of Hemet, teen Cameron Pierce of Lake Matthews, and Riverside’s Shawn Estes are third through fifth.

Three drivers are in contention for the American Factory Stock title going into Saturday’s finale. Canyon Lake’s David Stites, who won the crown in 2022, is the leader heading into the winter break. A seventh or better finish would guarantee Stites his second title. Ethan Kintop of Nuevo is the second-place driver, and James Keller of Jurupa Valley is third. Keller is mathematically within striking distance but would need the Stites and Kintop to not start the main and several new cars to show up.

In the GAS Chassis Young Gun Sprints, Brecken Guerrero of Westminster has already sewn up the crown and will get a free GAS Chassis for his effort. Like Guerrero, Tustin’s Bob Suchy has already won the championship in the Senior Sprints.

Spectator gates at Saturday’s season finale will open at 5:00 PM, and racing will begin at 7:00. Adult tickets are $30.00. For Seniors 65 and over, it is $25.00. Kids six to 12 get in for only $5.00, and children five and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking.

Advance tickets for all Perris Auto Speedway shows are available 24 hours a day online at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7 or by calling 1-800-595-4849. Plenty of tickets will be available at the ticket window every race night for fans who do not wish to purchase in advance.

The PAS is conveniently located on the freeway close Lake Perris Fairgrounds, home of the Southern California Fair, in nearby Riverside County. Take the 215 freeway. Exit at the Ramona Expressway and go three miles east to the fairgrounds. For directions online, the address to enter is 18700 Lake Perris Drive, and the zip code is 92571.
