RUML’S LAST USA RIDE BEFORE WORLD TEAM CUP DEBUT WILL BE AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
(Perris, CA, July 15, 2014) Teenage sensation “Mad Max” Ruml will get a final tune-up for his historic debut as a member of Team USA’s World Team Cup squad this Saturday night, July 19th, at the United States Speedway Motorcycle Longtrack Championship at Perris Auto Speedway. It will be the final chance for American fans to see him ride before he jets off to England less than 48-hours after the completion of Saturday’s program.

Ruml, a 17-year-old Huntington Beach, California high school student, was named to the squad by USA Team manager and past World Speedway Champion Billy Hamill on Tuesday morning,

"Max has been phenomenal on the US domestic scene this year, winning Main Events and being a clear 2nd place in the AMA National Championship Series,” Hamill said in a Team USA press release. “He rode exceptionally on the big Ventura track last month. He is fast, he listens and he learns. He was with us for the whole of last year’s SWC, practiced at Kings Lynn and impressed me with his pace.”

One week after the race at The PAS, Ruml will be thrown straight into the fire when the USA takes on Australia, England and Italy at King’s Lynn, England on Saturday, July 28th in Event #1 of the World Team Cup. In that meeting Ruml will tangle with no less than five current Grand Prix riders including World Champ Tai Woffinden and Chris Harris of England and 2012 World Champ Chris Holder, Darcy Ward and Troy Batchelor of Australia.

“Throwing him into the World Cup itself is a whole different ball game, but he is up for the challenge and taking it all in very well,” Hamill said. “There is no pressure on him, like Gino Manzares last year, he is there to sweep up a few points where he can. Max is going to be a long term member of this team and however it plays out, he will be better for the experience."

Ruml’s busy schedule got a lot busier with his inclusion in the USA squad for the prestigious event. He races Wednesday night at Industry Speedway in the City of Industry, treks to Northern California to race in Auburn on Friday and then heads south for the Longtrack Championship at The PAS on Saturday. On Monday he will board a flight and head to England for the biggest race of his life.

If the USA was to win the event at King’s Lynn, Ruml and his teammates would go straight to the World Team Cup Final in Bydgoszcz, Poland on August 2nd. If they finish second or third, they would go to the race off in Bydgoszcz on July 31st. The first two teams from the July 31st race go straight to the final two days later.

“The event at Perris Auto Speedway could not have come at a better or more important time for Max,” USA Team Coordinator Steve Evans said. “Like all California Speedway riders, Max competes on the tiny ovals that race weekly and seldom gets to race on a European sized track. The PAS is a European size track and it will be great for him to get laps on it just a week\k before King’s Lynn.”

Saturday Longtrack Championship will be Ruml’s first ever race at The PAS. He was slated to compete in last year’s version of the Longtrack Championship at the Riverside County racing facility, but he blew an engine the night before at Pirate Speedway and was unable to race.

“Most people have picked Max as the favorite to win on Saturday,” Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian said. “His call up to Team USA for the World Team Cup Championship makes this race even more important to him. We hope the fans come out to cheer him and the others riders on and then go down to pits to wish him well on his exciting upcoming events in Europe after the final race on Saturday.”

In addition to the top stars contesting the U.S. Speedway Motorcycle Longtrack championship, the Support Class riders will be contesting a European style team race and the wildly popular Speedway Sidecars will be doing their thing going the wrong way around the track.

Adult tickets are $20.00. Seniors 65 and older get in for $15.00. Active military members with proper id, teens 13-18 with their school id and kids 6-12 get in for just $5.00. Children 5 and under will be admitted free. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:30.

Camping for all events at The PAS is available for $25.00 per night. The campground will open at noon on Friday. Tailgating in the spectator parking lot will begin at 1:00 PM for all PAS events as well.
