BADGER WINS 2ND SENIOR MAIN IN A ROW - COLSTON GETS 1ST YOUNG GUN WIN AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
(Perris, CA, July 9, 2014)
It took Bill Badger more than three seasons to win his first ever Perris Auto Speedway Senior main event, but he now has won the last two in a row. In the accompanying PAS Young Gun main event on July 4th, newly turned 16-year old Parker Colston dominated the race for his first victory of 2014.

In the 20-lap Senior main for drivers 45 and older, Badger, who won the first ever PAS Senior championship three years ago, started on the outside of the front row with 2013 champion Rick Hendrix to his left. At the previous race, Badger, with the normal Ventura engine in the car, passed Hendrix for the win and when the Kevin Winters green flag opened the 20-lap main event in front of the near capacity holiday crowd, Badger was again in front of Hendrix. . The top two stayed that way until Hendrix, a three time USAC champion from Palmdale, trapped Badger behind a lapped car and raced around him for the lead late in the race. At that point it looked as though Hendrix had the race in the bag. He took the white flag in the lead and maintained the top spot all the way until turn four where a lapped car got sideways in front of the leaders and nearly took out Hendrix. Santa Clarita’s Badger, who once again had the Ventura engine in the in the white Badger Brothers Racing #75. took full advantage and pounced on the situation. He drove back by Hendrix and into the lead and led the final half straightaway for his second PAS win in a row. Hendrix recovered to finish second with 2012 series champion Bruce Douglass of Ventura third. San Diego’s Jess Denome finished fourth and Royal Adderson, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada who lives in Moreno Valley, fifth.

While Badger’s victory was a nail biter in the Senior main, Colston’s victory was the exact opposite. The Lake Elsinore based teen led all 15-laps on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. A late race yellow made the finish closer than what the bulk of the race looked like, but Colston was clearly in command in the Richard Gore/Jim Ruth/Circle Track Performance #64 from start to finish. Series point leader Trent Williams of Victorville was second with Holtville’s George Morris third, Mikey Lovas of Menifee fourth and Maylssa Young of Oak Hills fifth.

Badger and Williams won their respective division’s heat races earlier in the night.
