MOTORCYCLES TAKE OVER PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
ON JUNE 13TH! |
|
(JUNE 7, 2009, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway is being taken over! That is right! It is being taken over by Gene Romero’s West Coast Flat Track Motorcycle Series this Saturday night, June 13th, with the annual Southern California Ride, Rock N’ Race Fest. In addition to the great motorcycle racing on the track, there will be a vintage race bike display, live band, great food and cold beer. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with time trials at 5:15 and the first race at 7:00.
The annual race will be the fourth of nine on the 2009 WCFTS schedule. The event will include five divisions of racing on the fast PAS quarter mile oval. Heading the show will be the ever-popular Open Class and they will be joined the Saddleman Vintage Class, Top Gun 450 Class, Classic Vintage Twins and the Sportsman 250’s.
“We look forward to this show and to working with Gene Romero and his officials,” Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian said on Wednesday. “Gene always brings a great field of racers and his shows are extremely well run and very entertaining for the fans. Nobody is ever disappointed when they leave the facility. They get to see a lot of races and not a lot of down time. They run the races off in crowd pleasing rapid fire style.”
Last year was the first time the series ran on the PAS quarter-mile and it was the best motorcycle race in the track’s 13-year history. “We had great racing on the quarter-mile last year,” Kazarian said. “The action was fierce and tight from the drop of the first green flag of the all the way to the final checkered. The fans thought it was our best motorcycle race to date and we did, too. We think it will be even better this year.”
The WCFTS made its third 2009 stop at the legendary Lodi Cycle Bowl on May 9th. Graham, Washington’s Jethro Halbert won the Open Class main event, while Jimmy Craven of Madera, California bested the field to win the Saddleman Vintage Class. In the Top Gun 450’s, Acampo, California’s Mikey Martin took home the trophy with Donnie Harrel of Visalia, California besting the Classic Vintage Twins field and Visalia’s Briar Bauman won in the Sportsman 250’s.
“For anyone who rides a motorcycle to the race, there will again be special V.I.P. Motorcycle parking inside the gates,” Kazarian said. “Once they park their bike, they can show their parking ticket at the ticket window and they will save $5.00 off one adult admission. The band will start playing at 5:30 and the party will be on until after the last race is over.”
