FANS WITH TICKET STUBS TO LAST WEEK’S NASCAR SPRINT CUP AND NATIONWIDE EVENTS GET IN FREE
AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY! |
|
(FEBRUARY 27, 2008, PERRIS, CALIFORNIA)
Any fan that has a ticket stub from last weekend’s rainy NASCAR Sprint Cup or Nationwide races at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana can use that ticket to get in free this Saturday night, March 1st, at Perris Auto Speedway. While this weekend’s weather is slated to be cloudless and warm, fans will be treated to a storm in brothers Tommy “Thunder” Malcolm and his older brother Johnny “Lightning” Malcolm. Saturday’s program will feature the high speed Extreme Late Models, PASSCAR Modifieds & Street Stocks and the debut of the brand new Pick-A-Part Factory Stock Class. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30.
The Malcolm brothers, who race along with their stepfather Dino Napier, a former truck racing champion at The PAS, took the track by storm in 2007 and they had great starts to the 2008 season two weeks ago. Johnny, the older of the two at 19, races in the Extreme Late Models and finished 8th and 5th in the season’s first two main events (step dad Dino was second in both). Younger sibling Tommy, who is all of 15 years old, won the season opener for the PASSCAR Street Stocks and pocketed $1,000.00 and took home a $300.00 jacket for the win. The younger Malcolm began racing at The PAS last season and is quickly becoming one of the most popular drivers at the track.
“We wanted to do something for the fans who had to put up with the rain last weekend,” Perris promoter Don Kazarian said on Wednesday morning. “What better way than to introduce them to the “Storm Brothers?” Johnny and Tommy are two great kids and they are also talented race drivers. Tommy may well be the brightest young talent we have ever seen at the track.” That is a huge statement as NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Gilliland began his racing career at the track in 1998 and fellow Sprint Cup star JJ Yeley won the track’s first ever-main event in 1996. In addition, then teenage racer Kyle Busch wowed PAS fans when he competed in the track’s first ever Dwarf Car Nationals in 2001.
“Just the mention of “Tommy Thunder” and you can hear the cheers roll through the grandstands,” Kazarian said with a grin. “It was really cool to see the teenagers and young kids lined up against the fence when he won the season opening main event in February. They love him. We call them “Thunderheads!”
Good news for fans at The PAS is the fact that there is a younger brother chomping at the bit to go racing. “With the talent Johnny and Tommy have shown, I cannot wait to see the youngest one. Not sure what his nickname will be yet. Maybe “Rain” so we can have “Thunder, Lightning and Rain,” the promoter said while throwing his head back with a laugh.
Saturday’s four-ring circus of high speed racing, bent fenders and family fun will include qualifying for the Late Models and heats & main events for all four classes.
