DRIVERS GET ONE RACE MEMBERSHIP
EXEMPTION AT THE PAS IN 2008! |
|
(JANUARY 24, 2008, PERRIS, CA)
Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian has announced that drivers in all PASSCAR divisions will get one race before they have to become a member in 2008 at the famous Riverside County clay oval. The PASSCAR season will take the green flag on February 15th and 16th with the Extreme Late Models, MC Builders Super Stocks, Modifieds and Street Stocks.
In the second half of the 2006 season, the PAS offered one race without having to become a member to Late Model drivers only. This time it is different. “This is open to drivers in all divisions. Late Models, Super Stocks, Modifieds, Street Stocks and the brand new Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks, they can all have one race before becoming a member in 2008,” stated Kazarian. “It worked out well for visiting Late Model drivers when we did this a couple years ago. We decided to expand it and hopefully visiting drivers from all divisions will take advantage this year.”
Drivers can exercise this option at any race of the 2008 campaign. The back-to-back Friday and Saturday events on the schedule (like opening weekend) will be considered one race. If a driver comes to one of those two days shows, he gets both nights without having to join.
“We want everyone to know that they are welcome,” Kazarian said. “In fairness to our regulars, drivers who do take advantage of the offer will not receive points during that first race (or race weekend on the two day shows). They will get paid the regular purse money, but no points. The second time a driver comes to race he will have to join and he will be awarded points.”
While the PASSCAR season opener will be on February 15th and 16th, the track will kick off the 2008 racing calendar one week earlier with the popular USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the Perris 360 Sprint Car Championships on February 8th and 9th.
There will be a practice session for all racecars on Saturday afternoon February 2nd. The practice will be free for all fans in the stands and there will be $1.00 pizza and $2.00 beer. Gates will open at 1:00 PM for the practice.
