PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY STOCK CAR SEASON
HITS THE HOMESTRETCH!

(SEPTEMBER 18, 2007, PERRIS, CA) The 2007 PASSCAR season will hit the homestretch this Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway when the popular Riverside County clay oval hosts the Art’s Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Models, PASSCAR Street Stocks, Pick-A-Part Cruisers and the winged California Lightning Sprint Cars. Gate will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30.

Art Peterson of Cathedral City, California can begin to tie up the loose strings on his third straight PASSCAR championship in the Late Models with another top finish on Saturday. The slender former off-road racer has expanded his lead to 35-points – his biggest margin of the campaign – over Bill Bartels, the proprietor of Bartels’ Harley-Davidson. Peterson has only won one main event this season, but in the last ten races he has finished in the top three six times. Two weeks ago Peterson was third in the 25-lap main event behind Camarillo, California’s Phil Barrow and Zack “The Attack” Forster of Bakersfield, California.

Moreno Valley, California’s Curtis Dietzsch has been on a tear of late and is inching away from the competition as he seeks the championship in the PASSCAR Street Stocks. Dietzsch has parlayed his smooth style into a massive 55-point lead over Jim Coates of Riverside, California. Like Peterson, Dietzsch has been consistent during the second half of the season. In the last ten races he has three wins (including two in the last three races) and six top three finishes. If he prevails it will be his first championship on the hallowed PAS clay surface.

The biggest advantage in any class belongs to brothers Tom and Jeff Gillum in the Pick-A-Part Cruisers. Heading into Saturday’s race they hold a commanding 60-point lead over Phil Holmes and Donny Fengler in the standings.

The California Lightning Sprint Cars will be making their final appearance of 2007 at The PAS on Saturday and David Bezio holds a 33-point lead over Shane Rossen in the standings.

Saturday’s four-division brawl in the clay will include qualifying for the Late Models and heats and main events for all of the classes.
