Cathedral City, California concrete pumper Art Peterson has opened up a 23-point advantage over Marina Del Rey, California’s Bill Bartels in the fight for the Art’s Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Model Series championship at The PAS. Peterson finished third behind the father and son combination of Ron and Nick Bartels in the last race two weeks ago and as the season hits the homestretch, he is firmly in the drivers seat at the head of the pack. If Peterson captures the crown, he will become the first ever driver to win three straight PASSCAR championships.

In the MC Builders Super Stock class, veteran Jack Dodd, a long ago champion at the defunct Corona Raceway, continues to close in on his first ever PASSCAR championship. Dodd, who lives in Riverside, California, is 35-points ahead of defending series champion Mark Shackelford, who also resides in Riverside. Dodd’s neighbor, Tyson Talkington, scored his first ever win at The PAS two weeks ago when he held off fast closing Glen Diederick of Desert Hot Springs, California in the 20 lap main event.

The PASSCAR Modfields will be making their first appearance since July 28th and Apple Valley, California’s Randy Thornell will continue with the point lead he has held much of the campaign. Thornell has a 46-point lead over former Corona and Orange Show Figure 8 champion Johnny Lathrop of Corona. Hemet, California’s Kevin Busher is third in the championship hunt.

Torrance, California veteran Kenny “The Main” Mann returns to The PAS on Saturday after an incredible performance two weeks ago. Mann was penalized early in the main event for driving onto the infield to pass cars. The veteran was forced to start dead last and he came all the way to the front with a crowd-pleasing last lap pass for the win. Mann, is third in the standings behind point leader Curtis Dietzsch of Moreno Valley, California and Riverside’s Jim Coates.

Adding fire to this week’s Street Stock feature will be the return of crowd favorite Tommy “Thunder” Malcolm of Corona. Malcolm, a 15-year old sensation who is starting to draw a lot of attention in the racing world, missed the last race due to a family vacation.

Saturday’s four-division fight for glory and a few extra dollars will include qualifying for the Late Models and heats and main events for all of the classes.
