(AUGUST
7, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway will host
another quadruple header show featuring the Art’s Concrete
Pumping Extreme Late Models, MC Builders Super Stocks,
PASSCAR Street Stocks and the Winged California Lightning
Sprint Cars this Saturday night, August 11th. Spectator
gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30. Families can
save on Saturday with the popular PAS Family 4-Pack. Mom,
Dad and two kids will get into Saturday’s races for $40.00
and they will also get four hot dogs and four sodas. All
they have to do is ask for the Family 4-Pack at the ticket
window.
The
fierce battle for the Late Model championship will continue
this week as defending series champion Art Peterson of
Cathedral City, California holds a narrow 5-point advantage
over Marina Del Rey, California’s Bill Bartels. At the
last race two weeks ago, Bartels grandson, Nick, outran 1993
CRA Sprint Car champion Mike Kirby (Torrance, California)
and Corona, California veteran Dino Napier to the Eddie
Ramirez checkered flag. For the young Bartels, who lives in
El Segundo, California, it was his second triumph on the
famous Riverside County clay oval this season. He is third
in the points standings behind Peterson and his Grandpa.
Carla Laney, Kirby’s sister and a teammate to the
Bartels’ clan, is currently fourth while the “Fastest
Stock Car Driver in Yucca Valley,” Virgil Haney, rounds
out the top five in the standings.
The MC
Builders Super Stocks had an interesting evening the last
time out when Mark Shackelford of Riverside, California and
his teammate Ed Perry of Carpinteria, California came into
the main event deadlocked for the point lead. However, they
were both disqualified! Perry got the “heave ho” before
the checkered flag ended the 20-lapper for rough driving.
The affable Shackelford was disqualified when his car was
found to be underweight in a post race inspection. The win
went to 2002 champion Chad Burns or Riverside, California.
It was Burns first win at The PAS in several seasons and was
a very popular one with longtime fans. Fontana,
California’s Tyson “The Bomber” Talkington, a former
motorcycle racer, scored a career best second place finish.
The
wild battle for the point lead in the PASSCAR Super Stock
class has changed hands again as Moreno Valley,
California’s Curtis Dietzsch finished second in the main
two weeks ago and took the top spot in the standings from
Riverside, California’s Jim Coates. Dietzsch carries a
19-point lead over Coates heading into Saturday’s race.
Torrance, California veteran Kenny Mann, who led much of the
early season, now sits third. Pico Rivera, California’s
Jeff Seesholtz bagged his first ever win in the PASSCAR
Street Stocks two weeks ago.
The
Lightning Sprints, who have provided several drives
including Mike Spencer to the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series,
will be making their first appearance since June 30th. That
event was a “Kramer Fest” as brothers and cousins
Jarrett, Seth and Don Kramer finished one, two three in the
main event.
Saturday’s
fierce four class fight will include qualifying for the Late
Models and heat races and main events for all of the other
classes.
