(JULY 24, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Bakersfield, California’s John Lowrey will be seeking his second straight win in the Art’s Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Model Class this Saturday night, July 28th, at Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the Late Models on the world famous Riverside County clay oval will be the MC Builders Super Stocks, PASSCAR Modifieds and Street Stocks. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30. Fans from Perris who show a valid id at the ticket window for verification will be admitted free on Saturday night and Friday at the drag races on the Street Legal Strip at The PAS.
Lowrey, a 40-year old business owner, dominated the action and nearly swept the show two weeks ago when the series last appeared at The PAS. He set fast time, finished second in his heat and won the main event after starting 8th in the 17 car field.
“John Lowrey was more than impressive two weeks ago,” stated Perris promoter Don
Kazarian. “He set fast time and won the main, but most impressive was him passing Mike Kirby for the win. Kirby has more laps than any driver in any class at The PAS and he knows the track better than anyone. When you pass him, you know you have done a good job.”
Lowrey’s win over the tough field came in only his second appearance at the track this year and it ended much better than his first time. In February, the 22-year racing veteran was slammed into the turn two wall by another driver early in the main event.
Lowrey will be one of the favorites again this Saturday night, but will be hard pressed by Kirby, series point leader Art Peterson of Cathedral City, California and three generations of the racing Bartels’ Harley-Davidson clan. The PAS is expecting it’s largest Late Model field of the year on Saturday.
Families can save on Saturday with the popular PAS Family 4-Pack. Mom, Dad and two kids will get into Saturday’s races for $40.00 and they will also get four hot dogs and four sodas. All they have to do is ask for the Family 4-Pack at the ticket window.
Saturday’s exhibition of high-speed dare and skill will include qualifying for the Late Models and heat races and main events for all of the classes.
In addition to Saturday's race on the half-mile clay oval, there will be drag racing on Friday at the popular Street Legal Strip at The PAS where you can race your own car for just $30.00. Gates at the will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
